posted in: Juniors, News

WaiBOP Football have confirmed Cambridge has again been accepted to participate in the WaiBOP U-12 Junior Federation League.

The league goes into its second season in 2018 after successfully providing young boys with the chance to develop their game in training and development programmes conducted to standards set by the federation.

This league is played on Sundays, and entails two weekly trainings and a game on Sunday.

Games are played throughout the WaiBOP Region – Waikato, Tauranga, Rotorua and Taupo.

It is the recommendation of NZ Football and WaiBOP Football that players only play one game a week.

Training and trials

The U-12 Federation Junior team will be run as part of the Cambridge FC Youth Academy, delivered by the Ricki Herbert Football Academy.

Training sessions will be twice a week for one hour, on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 4pm and 6pm (specific time to be confirmed). The team trainings will be taken by a suitably qualified coach provided by the Ricki Herbert Football Academy.

Academy costs will be $180 per term, (approx $10 per session), payable at the commencement of the term. The options for Term 4 will be developed during the year in association with the coaches, parents and players.

The club subscription fees for the Federation Junior League team will be $150 for the 2018 season (payable in addition to the Academy training fees).

U-12 Federation Junior Team Trials

Evaluation/trial sessions:

Tuesday February 13, 2018

Tuesday February 20, 2018

Tuesday February 27, 2018

Time: 4.30pm

Trialling players will need to attend at least two of these sessions.

The selected squad will be advised by Friday March 2, with Academy training commencing twice per week from Tuesday March 6. The first game of the season is Sunday April 8.

We understand that training days/times may clash with summer sports commitments in Term 1, so if you have any concerns please speak with the coaches, so we can accommodate your child.

There will also be Cambridge FC Player Development programme training available to those players not selected for the Federation team. This will be on Mondays during term times.

This league replaces the Waikato Skill Centre, and as a general guideline players trialling for this team should have played in the first or second 11th-grade team for Cambridge FC last year, or similar at another club.

There will still be a Waikato Junior 12th grade league played on Saturdays, as previously, which Cambridge FC will be entering teams into.
