After weeks (if not months!) of anticipation, about 450 boys and girls take to our fields this weekend for the start of the junior football season.
At least 38 teams will go into action as our club enters a season with its new Future Reds programme in place, as well as newly-adopted codes of conduct.
Good luck to all our young players and thanks to all the club volunteers who have helped get their season ready to go.
Some children will be kicking a football for the first time when our First Kicks programme starts at 9am on Saturday. More details here.
For grades 6 and older, you can download the Excel spreadsheet version of the juniors draw for the first two weeks of the season here:
Our Northern League teams head to Franklin United for a double header.
The Reds reserves kick off at Bledisloe Park, Pukekohe, at 12.30pm, and a win will maintain their leadership in the competition.
The first teams kick off at the same venue at 3pm.
Travelling supporters will need about 90 minutes to drive from Cambridge to Bledisloe Park and they can find the games here:
Loaded WaiBOP Championship
The scheduled match between Cambridge and Otumoetai in the Loaded WaiBOP Championship has been postponed due to the number of players involved in the regional schools’ tournament being held on Saturday.
Waikato Men’s Divisions
The Cambridge A team head to Otorohanga for a 2.45pm match against last season’s Waikato Cup winners. The game will be played at Otorohanga Domain.
The only two home games on Saturday go to our D1 and D2 teams. The D1 side hosts West Hamilton United while the D2s play Te Aroha Cobras at John Kerkhof Park. Both games start at 12.30pm.
Our women’s team play Huntly Thistle in the Waikato Women’s B division on Sunday. The game starts at 11am at the Huntly Domain.
On Sunday, both our youth teams are drawn to play sides that currently top their leagues.
Our U-13s boys’ team host Tauranga’s Blue Rovers in the WaiBOP Federation Youth League. The match starts at 11.20am at John Kerkhof Park.
In the early game, our U-12s boys host unbeaten Claudelands Rovers at 10am.
Meal of the Week
Our club catering manager Michaela McQuarters is preparing Indian cuisine this week. Her Saturday meals prepared for the visiting teams will be butter chicken with naan and poppadums.

Good luck to all our teams, players and supporters – please check our website over the weekend for updates on results.
