Cambridge’s women’s team beat Ngaruawahia United 10-0 in a Waikato Women’s B league fixture at Centennial Park.
With five goals in each half, the Cambridge side overcame their recent tendency to run up big leads by half-time but then fade after the interval.
This time, the Andrew Taylor-coached side showed some ruthlessness in racking up a double-figure margin.
Astrid Howarth (pictured earlier this season) plundered four goals while the season’s top goalscorer Rachel Hill picked up another two to add to her tally.
Other goals came from Maria Cameron (2), Sophee Ranson-Jones and Gemma Martin.
Coach Taylor said he was particularly pleased with performances from Cameron, who showed top work ethic and distribution, and goalkeeper Annie Martin who filled in for regular ‘keeper and team skipper Jen Hull, and deserved to keep a clean sheet.
The Hill Homes Player of the Day was Maddy Burnett who stood out on a day when many played well.
