Cambridge youth team nominated for Waipa sports award

A Cambridge youth team has reached the finals of this year’s Waipa District Sports Awards.

The U-19s (pictured) who won last year’s satellite tournament at the National Youth Tournament in Napier have been nominated for the Waipa Sports Team of the Year.

Though Cambridge won the tournament in October 2017, it falls within the judging period used to measure performance of nominated teams.

Winners will be announced at a Sports Waikato dinner on Monday November 19 at the Don Rowlands Centre, Lake Karapiro.

St Peter’s Swimming Club South Australian State Short Course Championship Team
St Peter’s School Cambridge 1st XV Rugby Team
St Peter’s School Cambridge Boys U17 Rowing Four
St Peter’s School Cambridge Girls U17 Rowing Four
St Peter’s School Cambridge Girls U18 Rowing Eight
St Peter’s School Cambridge Premier Girls Basketball Team
St Peter’s School Cambridge Premier Girls Lacrosse Team

Meanwhile, Cambridge’s juniors club captain Tim Bailey is one of seven finalists for the Waipa Administrator of the Year.

He is one of two football finalists, the other being Te Awamutu FC’s secretary Sherll Whitt.
