How to join our Future Reds programme

Cambridge FC’s Future Reds programme supports young boys and girls who want to get the most from their football.

The Future Reds programme is operated and managed by the Ricki Herbert Football Academy (RHFA) on behalf of our club, ensuring a high standard of coaching from qualified coaches. It provides additional opportunities for players to develop, other than through their team training sessions.

All enrolments and payments for these programmes are made directly with and to the Ricki Herbert Football Academy (RHFA).

These programmes are not part of the registration process for playing football for Cambridge FC this season (which you will still need to do via your player’s MyCOMET passport).

Future Reds has four parts:

  1. A player development programme open to all boys and girls aged 6-14 (Born 2005 to 2013). It focuses on helping players improve their skills while having fun. This operates every term of the year during 2019
  2. A skills centre for players aged 9-14 who have demonstrated high levels of skill and a desire to perform to their potential. Inclusion in the skills centre is by invitation only (automatic for the top two graded teams from each Saturday grade). The skills centre only operates in Term 2 and Term 3 of 2019.
  3. Holiday programmes during school term breaks open to boys and girls aged 6 to 14 (born 2005 to 2013).
  4. Sunday Federation Junior and Youth Federation programme for U-12, U-13, U-14 boys and U-14 girls. This includes the selection, coaching sessions and game days. Operates Term 1, 2 and 3.

1. Player development sessions (open to all) – terms 1,2,3 and 4

A player development programme open to all boys and girls aged 6-14 (born 2005 to 2013). It focuses on helping players improve their skills while having fun. This operates every term of the year during 2019.

Training days: Mondays

Training times: 4.45pm – 5.45pm

Age groups: Grades – Boys 6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13  Girls U-8, U-10 and U-12

Term 1: Completed.

Term 2 dates: Start date: Monday May 6, 2019 and End date: Monday July 1, 2019

Term 3 dates: Start date: Monday July 29, 2019 and End date: Monday September 23, 2019

Term 4 dates: Start date: Monday October 21, 2019 and End date: December 16, 2019

Cost: $80.00 for Term 2 (8 sessions – no session at Queen’s Birthday Weekend); $90.00 for Terms 3 and 4 term (9 sessions)

2. Skill Centre for boys and girls – terms 2 and 3 only

Training days: Wednesday

Training time and age: 3.45pm – 4.45pm boys grade 9 & 10

Training time and age: 4.45pm – 5.45pm boys grade 11 & 12

Term 2 Dates: Start date: Wednesday May 8, 2019 and End date: Wednesday July 3, 2019

Term 3 Dates: Start date: Wednesday July 31, 2019 and End date: Wednesday September 25, 2019

Cost: $90.00 for Term 2 (9 sessions); $90.00 for Term 3 (9 sessions)

2b.Skills Centre for girls (by invitation) – Terms 2 and 3

Training days: Tuesday

Training time and age: 4.00pm-5.00pm U-10 girls & U-12 girls; 5.00pm-6.00pm U-14 girls

Term 2 dates: Start date: Tuesday May 7, 2019 and End date: Tuesday July 2, 2019

Term 3 dates: Start date: Tuesday July 30, 2019 and End date: Tuesday September 24, 2019

Cost: $90.00 for Term 2 (9 sessions); $90.00 for Term 3 (9 sessions)

3. Holiday programmes (end of terms 1, 2, 3 and 4)

These are three-day courses for boys and girls aged 6-15, held during school holidays.

4. Sunday Federation Junior and Youth programme 

Coaching and selection sessions were held in February and squads have been named to participate in the boys U-12 and U-13 WaiBOP Federation Leagues.

Programme for the rest of the season: (Terms 1, 2 and 3)

Coaching sessions/training days and times: Tuesday and Thursdays 5.00pm to 6.30pm

Team coaching sessions: Start March 5 and continue until approximately the end of Term 3.

First league game: Sunday, April 7, 2019.

About Ricki Herbert Football Academy

This academy has operated talent development centres throughout the upper North Island since its foundation in 2013 by former All Whites and Wellington Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert.

Ricki Herbert, a member of the legendary 1982 All Whites who played at the FIFA World Cup Finals in Spain, is the technical director at Cambridge Football Club and helps us develop coaches and our programmes.
