Women get useful point in scoreless draw at Unicol

Cambridge’s women’s team earned a useful competition point with a 0-0 draw at Waikato Unicol in the Waikato Women’s Division 1.

The game was tight throughout but Cambridge might have gained a win but for a few missed opportunities.

The clean sheet followed an improved defensive record as the season has progressed, with stand-in goalkeeper Amy Ireland (covering for an injured Annie Martin) performing well.

Other players who stood out included Gemma Martin, Emma Barrott and Hill Homes Player of the Day Georgia Bellamy-Hill.

Next Sunday (August 4), Cambridge are at home to West Hamilton United, starting at 11am.
