Club duo nominated for Waipa’s annual sports awards

Two Cambridge FC stalwarts have been nominated for this year’s annual Waipa sports awards, run by Sport Waikato.

Juniors volunteer Gary Kelk is a contender for the Waipa Sports Administrator of the Year while club chairman Steve Thomas has been nominated for the district’s Coach of the Year for his work with Cambridge High School’s first XI.

The winners of these categories, and others, will be named on Monday November 18, 2019, at a Sport Waikato dinner at the Sir Don Rowlands Centre, Lake Karapiro.

Cambridge FC members and supporters are invited to attend the dinner to support Gary Kelk and Steve Thomas (see below for how to book your ticket).

Last year, Cambridge FC’s junior captain Tim Bailey won the Waipa Administrator of the Year, the category for which Gary Kelk is nominated this year.

A past winner of the Waipa and Waikato awards was former Cambridge FC chairman Greg Zeuren in 2014 while past junior captain Catherine Clark was nominated in 2017 for the Waipa award.
