Cambridge FC’s head coach Paul Richardson will have a familiar coaching group beside him as the Reds go into their third season since winning promotion to the Northern League.

Richard Wade and Blair Hoad have been re-appointed as assistant coaches to the club’s first team while Kim Brierley returns as the Reds’ goalkeeper coach.

The appointments have been confirmed after Cambridge’s steady improvement in their two seasons since returning to the Lotto NRFL second division, in which they finished 7th (2018) and 5th (2019).

The club has sought expressions of interest from coaches who want to consider joining Cambridge FC’s coaching group for other senior teams. Click here for more information.

Meanwhile, Reds midfielder Marcelo Sosa will return to former club Ngaruawahia United next season to take up his first senior coaching role.

The 31-year-old Uruguayan has been named co-coach with Kyle Park for United’s first team that will compete in next year’s WaiBOP Premiership.

Cambridge FC head coach Paul Richardson said he appreciated Sosa’s contribution to the Reds in their two seasons of Northern League football.

“On behalf of the players and the club supporters I would like to recognise Marcelo Sosa for his time with us both as a player and conditioning coach, and wish him all the best and much success as he heads into his first senior coaching role,” he said.
