Full-year 2020 calendar for youngsters’ Future Reds programme

A year-long programme of football activities provides a range of opportunities for young boys and girls looking to improve their skills through Cambridge’s Future Reds programme.

The programme is run by the Ricki Herbert Football Academy, in partnership with Cambridge Football Club, and is designed to cater for all players, from those wanting to enjoy the sport at entry-level to players keen to develop to high levels of skill.

Please note that fees are payable to the RHFA upon registration.

Here are the main elements of the Future Reds programme planned for 2020:

Skills Centre

This centre is designed for players aged 9-12 who have demonstrated high levels of skill and a desire to perform to their potential. Inclusion is by invitation only (automatic for the top two graded teams from each Cambridge FC Saturday grade).

The centre operates from Cambridge FC’s grounds in Vogel St on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.


Term 1: Wednesday February 12 – Wednesday April 1 (8 sessions over eight weeks). Cost $80.

Term 2: Wednesday May 6 – Wednesday July 1 (9 sessions over nine weeks). Cost $90.

Term 3: Wednesday July 29 – Wednesday September 23 (9 sessions over nine weeks). Cost $90.

Term 4: Wednesday October 21 – Wednesday December 16 (9 sessions over nine weeks). Cost $90.

Girls’ academy

This is a specialist programme for girls aged 7-12.

The girls’ academy holds coaching sessions on Tuesday evenings.


Term 1: Tuesday February 11 – Tuesday March 31 (8 weekly sessions). Cost $80.

Term 2: Tuesday May 5 – Tuesday June 29 (9 weekly sessions). Cost $90.

Term 3: Tuesday July 28 – Tuesday September 22 (9 weekly sessions). Cost $90.

Term 4: Tuesday October 20 – Tuesday December 15 (9 weekly sessions). Cost $90.

Federation youth league teams

Cambridge FC plans to enter the following teams in regional youth leagues for players aged 12-14 in 2020:

  • Boys’ 12th-grade J-League (for players born in 2008)
  • Boys’ 13th-grade Y-League (for players born in 2007)
  • Boys’ 14th-grade Y-League (for players born in 2006)
  • Girls’ 14th-grade Y-League (for players born in 2006)

Term 1: Coaching assessment sessions will be held on Monday February 17, Monday February 24, Monday March 2 and Monday March 9. Cost $30 for the four sessions.

Once squads have been selected, coaching sessions will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Term 2: Tuesday May 5 – Thursday July 9 (18 sessions over nine weeks). Cost $180.

Term 3: Tuesday July 28 – Thursday September 24 (18 sessions over nine weeks). Cost $180.

Player development programme (open to all)

This is open to all boys and girls aged 6-11 (born 2009-2014). It focuses on helping players improve their skills while having fun. Sessions are held on Monday evenings.


Term 1: Monday February 17 – Monday April 6 (8 weekly sessions). Cost $80.

Term 2: Monday May 4 – Monday June 28 (9 weekly sessions). Cost $90.

Term 3: Monday July 27 – Monday September 21 (9 weekly sessions). Cost $90.

Term 4: Monday October 19 – Monday December 14 (9 weekly sessions). Cost $90.

School holiday programmes

The RHFA runs holiday programmes in April, July and December for boys and girls aged 6-14.

Please check the RHFA website or the Cambridge FC website for details towards the end of each school term for dates and registration details.
