More than 400 boys and girls will play this winter as junior registrations close

More than 400 young players will enjoy the winter football season as Cambridge FC players with the closure of this year’s junior registrations.

At least 320 boys and 80 girls will wear the red and white striped shirts of Cambridge when junior football gets underway on Saturday June 13.

The number of registrations is down about 13% on last year which appears to be as a result of disruption to sports during the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The country moved to Alert Level 1 five days ahead of the season’s start, making it much easier for the club to host football matches.

With no limits on the size of public gatherings, we look forward to seeing spectators encouraging our youngest players as they take to the pitches.

Level 1 also means our junior shop can sell chips, but we need volunteers to help run the shop.

If you can help on a Saturday morning, please add your name to the call for helpers on our Facebook page.

Though we are now at level 1, we continue to encourage visitors to our grounds to use New Zealand Football’s contact tracing system, iDME.
