Cambridge FC will start their 2020 Lotto NRFL second division season with a trip to Hamilton’s Claudelands Rovers.
The local derby, at Rovers’ Galloway Park, will see the two clubs meet in a reserves clash (12.30pm), followed by the Northern League match-up at 3pm on Saturday June 20.
The following weekend, Cambridge will stage their first home fixture when Oratia United will travel to John Kerkhof Park from west Auckand.
The format of the second division has been changed because of the delayed start to the season with the 12 teams playing each other once.
After those 11 fixtures, the competition will split into two groups of six teams, with the top group chasing the second division title and the chance of promotion to division one.
The lower group will sort out which clubs are relegated.
The competition will conclude on October 10 or 17, depending on postponements.
The new IFAB Law of the Game for substitutions has been adopted by the NRFL for the 2020 season – up to five permitted (not rolling) from five named substitutes. The substitutions can take place during a maximum of three substitution windows during the match (exclusive of halftime).
Due to the late start of the season, the registration and transfer deadline has been extended to August 14, instead of the traditional June 30.
The NRFL has yet to announce its plans for managing promotion and relegation within the NRFL this year.
