Cambridge’s women’s team have continued their improvement with a 6-0 win against Unicol Rovers in their Waikato Women’s Division Two match at John Kerkhof Park.

The team has been threatening to hit its straps with some good performances so far this season but the goals all came in this fixture.

Sophie Young got Cambridge off to a good start with the opening goal after 10 minutes.

Captain Steph Upton doubled the lead after 25 minutes before setting up Georgia Methven to score the side’s third goal after 37 minutes.

Striker Astrid Howarth scored in the 40th minute to send the home side into the interval with a comfortable 4-0 lead.

Unicol Rovers put up resistance in the second half, restricting Cambridge to two more goals.

The first of those went to Howarth on the hour before Young scored her second of the day after good play from Olivia Sutherland.
