Reds reserves stumble in second half to lose 3-1 to Aucklanders

posted in: Men, News, Northern League

A loss of focus early in the second half proved costly for Cambridge’s reserves as they lost 3-1 to Greenhithe Catimba in their Lotto NRFL second division reserves match.

For an hour, the teams were evenly matched but Cambrdige conceded two goals in a 10-minute spell, enough to swing the result in the Aucklanders’ favour.

Cambridge got off to the better start when captain Devon Andrews bundled the ball into the net in the 22nd minute after a good passing move by the Reds.

But Catimba fought back and levelled in the 29th minute through Davi de Carvalho.

The sides turned around at 1-1 but Catimba took the initiative with two goals from Ronald Vargas in the 55th and 66th minutes.
