Youth teams continue to impress with latest wins

Cambridge’s U-14 and U-12 youth teams have continued with their good form, winning their latest matches by significant margins.

WaiBOP Federation Y-League: Tauranga City 0, Cambridge 5

Cambridge U-14 kept up their excellent form in the WaiBOP Federation Y-League with a 5-0 win, after leading 2-0 at the interval.

Dylan Gardiner broke the Tauranga resistance in the 27th minute and William Leyland double the visitors’ lead five minutes later.

In the second half, Jack Beaumont (36′) and Gardiner (45′) made sure of the result before Beaumont completed the scoring (47′).

WaiBOP  Federation J-League: Hamilton Wanderers 1, Cambridge 5

Against close rivals Wanderers, Cambridge U-12 went into half-time with a 2-0 lead after Luke Brooke-Smith clinically finished after good build-up play.

Wanderers started the second half strongly but Cambridge went 3-0 up through Oscar Gifford. This was followed in quick succession by two more goals to Cambridge, one to Jaxson Makgill and another to Brooke-Smith to complete his hat trick.

Wanderers never gave up and scored a consolation goal late in the match.
