Reds reserves beaten by competition leaders Fencibles United

posted in: Men, News, Northern League

Cambridge FC’s reserves have lost 5-1 to top-of-the-table Fencibles United in the Lotto NRFL second division reserves competition.

The home side extended their season record to six wins from six games but found it difficult to out-perform Cambridge until late in the match when they scored twice in the dying minutes.

Fencibles went ahead in the fifth minute through Danny Mackenzie.

Cambridge levelled after 20′ through an own goal, credited to Ajay Dhanjee.

That’s how the score stayed till half-time at Riverhills Park.

In the second half, both teams made multiple changes and Fencibles gradually took control.

Goals in the last five minutes to Daniel Green (86′) and Peter Jones (88′)  enhanced the winning margin for Fencibles.

Next Saturday (August 1), the Reds reserves host Northland – the first Northern League home games for Cambridge in three weeks.
