Reds share the spoils in latest Northern League encounter

posted in: Men, News, Northern League

Cambridge moved a place up the tight second division table thanks to a 2-2 away draw with Fencibles United.

The home side and the Reds traded early goals with Fencibles taking the lead on the half hour through Brennen Priestley.

Three minutes later, Cambridge’s leading goalscorer Josh Clarkin levelled with his fifth goal of the campaign.

Priestley found the net again in the 40th minute to take Fencibles into the break 2-1 ahead.

In the second half, Cambridge equalised through Daniel Clarkson in the 53rd minute.

The draw lifted Cambridge out of the relegation zone, ahead of Northland who visit John Kerkhof Park next weekend.

Bottom-placed Uni-Mount Bohemian were heavily beaten at home, losing 7-0 to Hibiscus Coast.
