Reds reserves create chances but go down to Northland’s second stringers

Cambridge’s reserve team continues to play attacking football but the results won’t come.

The latest example was a 3-0 loss at John Kerkhof Park to Northland FC.

The young Reds side fell behind in the first half, conceding goals to Daniel Adams (20′) and Danil Rou (27′).

Cambridge fought back, creating goalscoring chances but failing to convert, for the teams to turn around with Northland 2-0 ahead.

The third Northland goal, almost on the hour, summed up Cambridge’s day.

Having been awarded a free kick on the edge of the Northland area, Cambridge’s Aston Hurd belted his shot against the post. The rebound was hooked clear, creating the chance for a Northland counter-attack.

Northland’s D’Lane Martin tried to round Cambridge ‘keeper Fazeel Aqil and sliced a shot which ballooned high in the air for the wind to carry into the Cambridge net.

Next Saturday (August 8), the reserves travel to Franklin United in search of a change of fortune.
