Change of dates for club to share memories of Life Member Rod Larnach

Restrictions on travel between Auckland and the Waikato have forced the postponement of a memorial service to be held at Cambridge FC’s clubrooms in honour of former player and Life Member Rod Larnach who died in May.

The event will now be held at 2pm on Friday October 30, instead of this Friday (August 28), when Auckland will still be at Alert Level 3.

This Saturday was also to be Rod Larnach Day at John Kerkhof Park to give the current generation of players, and spectators, their own chance to pay their respects to him.

As the Northern League game between Cambridge and Beachlands Maraetai has been postponed, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, our club and the Larnach family have agreed to hold Rod Larnach Day early next season.

If you wish to attend the October service, please RSVP and share any photographs of Rod by emailing This will help the family with their catering plans.

Rod Larnach Day

Rod was a member of Cambridge’s Northern League squad in the 1970s, having progressed through our junior sides which he first joined in 1957.

His father, Jack, was a member of the club’s committee and in the late 1970s, Rod became one of the youngest members of the club’s committee. He played, coached, was the club’s treasurer and was a hands-on volunteer across the club. He became a Life Member in 1988.
