Where our First Kicks, 6th and 7th grade junior players will play on Saturday

posted in: Juniors

Cambridge FC has made changes to the way we manage Saturday games for children in 7th grade and younger so we can meet requirements for playing football under Alert Level 2.

While football is allowed under the guidelines, our club is required to manage the number of spectators at games, prevent mingling between groups and to arrange games to maintain physical distancing.

Contact tracing

We provide two ways for our visitors to record their attendance. You can use either or both of the following contact tracing systems:

  • You can scan the COVID-19 QR code on posters at our grounds, using the government’s contact tracing app.
  • You can use NZ Football’s iDMe contact tracing system

First Kicks (9am)

About 40 children participate in this programme for 4th-5th graders.

We need to restrict the number of caregivers to one per child to help us stay within the 100-person maximum we’re allowed to have in this ‘gathering’ under the guidelines.

First Kicks will use an area beside the southern end (town end) of the car park – these means participants and caregivers do not need to walk through other groups of visitors to reach their area. Please see the grounds map below – the First Kicks area will be where the no smoking/no dogs/no golf information is.

Two separate areas will be marked to create two groups of players (20 maximum per group).

We ask all players and spectators not to mingle afterwards, and to leave our grounds as soon as possible.

6th grade (10am)

For this weekend’s final day of winter football, we intend to host a series of parents v kids games. To enable this, please use the following pitch allocations:

  • Yellow – pitch 7A
  • Blue – pitch 7B
  • Green – pitch 9A (carpark end)
  • Black – pitch 9A (halfway)

Please ensure games are finished by 10.45am and we urge all players and spectators not to mingle afterwards, and to leave our grounds as soon as possible.

7th grade (9am)

For this weekend’s final day of winter football, we intend to host a series of parents v kids games. To enable this, please use the following pitch allocations:

  • Atlanta – pitch 7A
  • Toronto – pitch 9A (carpark end)
  • Portugal – pitch 9A (halfway)
  • Montreal – pitch 9E (senior end)
  • New York – pitch 9E (racecourse end)

Please ensure games are finished by 9.45am and we urge all players and spectators not to mingle afterwards, and to leave our grounds as soon as possible.

Shop/coffee cart

Our junior shop and coffee cart will not be open this Saturday as level 2 guidelines require us to minimise the risk of mingling.

Future plans

Our plans will depend on whether our region remains at Alert Level 2 and whether we are able to manage football within national guidelines – we require the co-operation of all caregivers and players to make that possible.

Please check our website for updates.

Weekend weather

Reminder to visitors

John Kerkhof Park is smoke-free and Waipa District Council bylaws forbid dog owners from taking their pets to the park.

Car parking

We have grassed car parks beside our senior and junior fields. Please avoid using them if heavy rain has left them muddy.

Safety

Please be aware of the development taking place opposite our junior grounds in Vogel St. Contractors are likely to be moving heavy vehicles to and from the site and we ask our visitors to be careful when parking on the street or crossing the road to our club.
