Wood named New Zealand Footballer of the Year

Former Cambridge player Chris Wood has been named New Zealand Football’s Player of the Year.

The All Whites striker, now playing for Burnley in the English Premier League, also took away the title of New Zealand International Player of the Year.

The annual awards were live-streamed from Auckland and Wood responded via a video link from the United Kingdom:

Chris Wood – the making of an All White

After playing junior football for Cambridge, Chris Wood made his first team debut in 2006 when he was 14.

His subsequent career as a professional footballer has provided inspiration for many young Cambridge players since.
