Cambridge FC’s senior players celebrated their season’s achievements at a red and white-themed awards night at John Kerkhof Park.
The night was special for a number of awards that recognised outstanding efforts in a disrupted season.
Highlights included:
- The inaugural Team of the Year award went to the U-12 Federation Youth team, prompting a standing ovation from the club’s senior players and supporters. Click here for more details >>>>
- Super-volunteer Craig Clark – made a Life Member three nights before – landed both the Club Person of the Year and the Club Personality of the Year, and all on his birthday!
- Goalkeeper Fraser Nicholls took the men’s Player of the Year shield, named after the late Jim Barry – a goalkeeper who died tragically young in the 1980s.
- Skipper Steph Upton was named the women’s Player of the Year in her first season at the club.
- Goalkeepers from every senior team took home at least one trophy.
Special presentations were made to D1’s veteran Jim Thomassen for spearheading the club’s Saturday’s catering and to bar manager Grant Storie who was named Supporter of the Year.
Our club thanks chairman Steve Thomas who MC’d the event, sounds system provider Richard Crafts, the women’s team (who decked out the clubrooms in red and white) and many other volunteers who made the event possible.
To warm up the audience for the formal part of the evening, local band Louder, Louder played a set with six-time Player of the Year Patrick Woodlock on lead vocals.
And now the planning starts for next season …
