More opportunities for girls-only leagues this season

posted in: Juniors, News, Women

Girls will have more opportunities to play in more girls-only teams this winter season.

As the girls and women’s game continues to grow, Cambridge FC will field more teams to cater for girls under 16 who want to play football.

In 2018, Cambridge plans to field girls-only teams in the following age groups:

U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14 (all playing in Waikato competitions)

U-16 (playing in Waikato/Bay of Plenty Federation League)

We will also run in-house First Kicks girls-only 6th and 7th grade football as this was extremely successful in 2017.

Our club will place all girls in girls-only teams in line with the policy of WaiBOP Football and NZ Football’s Girls Framework.

Last year was most successful for the development of girls’ football at Cambridge. We fielded two U-8 teams, three U-10 teams, three U-13 teams and more than 25 youngsters were part of our 6th and 7th grade programme.

Our club appreciates the work of an outstanding group of coaches and the support of parents who are helping girls develop their football skills and love for the game.
