Cambridge face their stiffest pre-season test this weekend with a trip north to play a double-header against Manukau United, coached by All Whites legend Kevin Fallon.
Manukau United – formed last year through the merger of Manukau City and Mangere United – will play two divisions higher than Cambridge this year, in the Northern League’s Premier Division.
Saturday’s games will set a clear benchmark for Cambridge, especially as Fallon is famous for producing super-fit teams.
Both games are at Walter Massey Park, 378 Massey Rd, Auckland, with the reserves kicking off at 1pm, followed by first team action at 3pm. Click here for map and directions.
The travelling first team squad will be:
Patrick Steele, Nathan Claridge, Kieran Hill, Theo Petropolous, Kyle Stead, Daniel Clarkin, Joshua Clarkin, Mason Woodall, Bradley Rea, Dylan Blair, Callum MacLeod, Marcelo Sosa, Sam Garmonsway, Andrew Taylor.
Injured: Wayne Teague.
Rested: Patrick Woodlock, Jason Walker.

Meanwhile, other Cambridge senior teams are lining up their first pre-season games of the season, with home games.

Cambridge D2s v Tom Voyle Park Rangers
On Sunday, the Waikato D2 side will host Tom Voyle Park Rangers at John Kerkhof Park, starting at 3pm.
