Senior teams swing into action as local competitions begin

All Cambridge FC’s senior men’s and women’s teams go into action this weekend as WaiBOP and Waikato competitions get underway.

At John Kerkhof Park, the feature games will be a Northern League double header against Papakura City, and a WaiBOP Championship fixture between Cambridge and Kawerau Sports.

The Reds go into their Lotto NRFL second division match against Papakura as early leaders in the competition, with two wins from their opening two games (5-2 v Ngongotaha and 5-1 v Claudelands Rovers).

Coach Mike Woodlock won’t underestimate Papakura, despite the Aucklanders poor start to their season. City have lost 1-0 to newly-promoted Bucklands Beach and 2-0 to Franklin United, two teams regarded as strong contenders this season.
