UPDATED: Three Cambridge teams go into the Waikato Cup this week – with two of them drawn against each other in the first round.

The Cambridge A men’s team have drawn the Cambridge D1 side in a cup clash that will ensure the club will have at least one name in the second round draw. The sides will go head-to-head at John Kerkhof under floodlights this Thursday evening (April 26).

The Cambridge D2 will also play at home, having drawn Te Awamutu’s division A team, in a lunchtime game on Saturday.

Cambridge will be looking to emulate the feat of the club’s Waikato B team (photographed after their semi-final win) who last year reached the final of the Waikato Cup, losing the final to Otorohanga B at John Kerkhof Park.

Other home games on Saturday are the Lotto NRFL match between Cambridge and Bucklands Beach (3pm) and the match between those clubs’ reserves teams (12.30pm).
