Club loses long-time supporter Hank Kerkhof

Cambridge FC has lost a long-time supporter with the death of Hank Kerkhof, aged 88.

Despite ailing health, he continued to visit our club and support Cambridge teams until recently.

The brother of John Kerkhof, after whom the club’s ground is named, Hendricus van de Kerkhof (Hank) was a member of the family that made a huge contribution to the growth of the club.

The family was instrumental in moving the club from the park in the centre of Cambridge to its current home in Vogel St, and building the first iteration of the building that now comprises the senior clubrooms.

Our club sends its condolences to the Kerkhof family.

Senior teams will observe a minute’s silence before their matches on Saturday, and wear black armbands during their games.

Passed peacefully at Resthaven Home and Hospital on Tuesday, 5th June 2018. Aged 88 years. Loving husband of Maria for nearly 65 years. Adored and cherished father and father-in-law of Marion & Barry and Ricky & Cheryl. Beloved Opa to all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

“Rest in Peace”: A Requiem Mass will be held at St Peter’s Catholic Church, Anzac Street, Cambridge, on Saturday, the 9th of June 2018 at 11.00am. All communications to the van de Kerkhof Family, c/- 3 Hallys Lane, Cambridge, 3434.
