Women get home draw in Waikato Cup quarter final

Cambridge will play at home against Tokoroa in the quarter finals of this year’s Waikato Women’s Cup.

Tokoroa play in the WaiBOP Women’s Premiership, a division higher than Cambridge who are in the Waikato A competition.

The match will be staged at John Kerkhof Park on Sunday July 8, kicking off at 11am.

In the last cup round, Cambridge beat Matamata Swifts 5-0 at John Kerkhof Park.

Tokoroa finished top of the Waikato A competition held in the first half of the season – unbeaten in their six matches – and were promoted to the Premiership for the latter half of the year.

Cambridge replaced Tokoroa in the A division, having won promotion from the B league.

Cambridge have a proud record in recent cup competitions.

The team won the 2014 Waikato Women’s Cup. They were beaten finalists in 2013 and 2015.

The side were runners-up in the 2016 Waikato Plate.
