Cambridge FC’s reserves travel to Auckland on Saturday for a match that could have a major influence on the final standings in this year’s Lotto NRFL second division reserves league.
The Reds’ opponents are Bucklands Beach, currently third in the competition and 4-1 winners last weekend over Franklin United.
Cambridge hold a three-point lead in the competition but have had a difficult July with two sets of opponents, Onehunga Mangere United
and Albany United, failing to field teams against them.
While that led to Cambridge being awarded both games with 3-0 scorelines for the defaults, it’s meant a lack of game time for Mike Taylor’s squad.
With Cambridge needing three more points at Bucklands Beach’s Lloyd Elsmore Park (12.30pm kick off), they’ll also be keeping a watch on nearest challenger Takapuna who will travel to Metro.
