Family and friends will get their chance to celebrate the life of Abby Hartley at her funeral to be held at Hamilton Gardens.

The funeral will be held at 1pm on Monday September 17.

Abby (41) died in a Bali hospital after being in an induced coma for almost a month.

Abby, whose son Toby plays for Cambridge reserves, fell ill while on a second honeymoon with husband Richard.

The family had been hoping to bring Abby back to New Zealand for treatment but her condition deteriorated.

Our club extends its sympathies to the Hartley family.

Meanwhile, Abby’s daughter Sophie has made the following statement on behalf of her family:

“On Sunday morning 8.55am Bali time mum let go after fighting and fighting a very long battle

“Mum is at peace now and we are extremely grateful for the many years of joy and love mum brought us.

“She will forever be held in our memories and hearts and without a doubt she will make her presence known when she is watching over us.”

Sophie Hartley said the family “did everything we could and had to do to help mum fight and get her home”.

“We would like to thank everyone for all of your love and support, it has made everything that little bit easier.

“We have no bad feelings towards the Government and we understand their decision to not assist us with getting mum home.”
