Reds and Rovers entertain in 10-goal thriller between reserves sides

Cambridge and local rivals Claudelands Rovers found their goal touch in their Lotto NRFL reserves match with the visitors shading the Reds 6-4 at John Kerkhof Park.

Spectators were treated to free-flowing football which saw both sides throwing everything into attack, especially in the first half which saw eight goals.

Rovers took the lead after 10 minutes and quickly added a second.

Cambridge pulled back a goal through Cristian Angulo in the 18th minute.

Five minutes later, the busy Alex Mukaka found an equaliser for the Reds.

But Claudelands came back and found the net in the 33rd and 35th minutes to restore their two-goal lead.

Cambridge showed no signs of cowing and fought back with a second goal from Mukaka after 40 minutes, and then through Riley Higgs in the 43rd minute.

In the second half, both sides created chances but Rovers took the win with goals after 60 minutes and with a long-range effort in the 68th minute.

The result leaves Cambridge in mid-table.
