Second half turnaround sees women’s team lose at Tokoroa

Cambridge’s women’s team surrendered a first half lead before losing their Waikato Division 1 match by 4-1 at Tokoroa.

Depleted by illness, Cambridge were forced to play with only 10 fit players but hard work saw them take the lead through Caitlin Varcoe.

The Cambridge side wilted in the second half and Tokoroa finished strongly, scoring four times.

Coach Andrew Taylor said the players deserved better for their efforts and the scoreline did not reflect the performance of his team.

The Hill Homes Player of the Day was Georgia Bellamy-Hill.

Next Sunday (May 5), the women play at home against Waikato Unicol (11am kick off).
