Cambridge head coach Paul Richardson says his side’s performance in the ISPS Handa Chatham Cup put paid to any suggestion there was a ‘gulf in class’ between the Reds and Northern League Premier division side Glenfield Rovers.
“There were two even sides out there,” he said after the cup tie finished 5-4 in favour of Rovers after the match went to extra time at John Kerkhof Park.
Richardson said his side had two or three opportunities to win the second round tie late in the match but it was decided by a hopeful pass into the Cambridge box, tucked away by a relieved Rovers player.
