Cambridge reserves lost 4-1 to Metro FC in their Lotto NRFL second division reserves fixture at Phyllis St, Auckland.
The sides went into the break with the game goalless but Metro’s Sam Adeyinka put the home side ahead in the 55th minutes.
Ten minutes later Devon Andrews levelled for Cambridge.
Cambridge looked set to take the lead when the referee awarded them a penalty but after consultation with his assistant, the decision was changed to a free kick outside the area.
That setback helped give back the momentum to Metro who added three more goals to take the victory.
Those goals came from Adeyinka – who completed a hat-trick with goals in the 67th and 74th minutes – and Tim Jones who finished the scoring with a goal in added time.
