A late goal from a corner by Ben Carter got Cambridge home in a thrilling 4-3 win to the D2s against Northern United Seniles.
Cambridge had taken an early lead when Thomas Horrox laid on a goal for Andy Kemp in the opening five minutes of the game at John Kerkhof Park.
Rory Forde made it 2-0 and the home side went into the interval with a 2-1 lead against one of the division’s best sides.
Andrew Myers extended Cambridge’s lead to 3-1 before a red card reduced Northern United to 10 men.
That seemed to inspire the visitors to greater efforts and they pulled back two goals to level the score at 3-3.
However, with time running out, Carter stepped up to score his second goal of the season and give Cambridge a valuable three points.
