We’re pleased to announce the winner of our 2019 Photo of the Year competition, sponsored by Annette Breen of AB Insurance Advice.
The winning image is called ‘aaah, fresh air’, taken by Deborah Hunter, a photograph that captures some of our First Kicks boys and girls enjoying a sharp winter’s morning on our pitches.
The judges said the photo showed how children could enjoy each other’s company – regardless of where the football ended up – and there was no doubting the fun being shared.
We were looking for photographs of our youngest players showing them having FUN and involved in FRANTIC ACTION.
Between June and August, we published our favourite photographs and named two winners for each month.
All photographs submitted to the competition were judged by a panel of three:
Grant Stantiall – long-time football photographer whose images have been viewed millions of times on Flickr.
Josh Easby – editor of Cambridge FC’s club magazine RED.
Our other judge, official club photographer Louis Roberts, was in hospital and unable to participate in this year’s judging.
Thanks to our sponsor
Annette, of AB Insurance, says she loves seeing photographs of Cambridge footballers giving their best and having fun.
It’s the second year Annette and the club has run this competition.
