Wood family turn out for Cambridge team once again

The name of Wood has represented Cambridge FC once more – this time on the golf course.

While former Cambridge player Chris Wood was preparing for Burnley’s English Premier League match against Leicester City, his father Grant and uncle Ian were turning out for Cambridge FC at a charity golf day in Auckland.

They teamed up with Cambridge FC chairman Steve Thomas and referee Keith Hedges to participate in Friends of Football’s fifth annual golf day at the Waitemata Golf Club.

Grant Wood – who was first team manager at Cambridge a decade ago – was briefly back in New Zealand to see family, before returning to the UK where he and wife Julie support son Chris in his professional football career.

The round of golf gave Grant and Ian plenty of opportunity to talk football catch up with some familiar faces.
