Cambridge FC have appointed Steve Thomas as head coach of the club’s WaiBOP Championship squad for the 2020 season.

Thomas (pictured) has previously coached Cambridge teams at the reserves and federation league level, and has a New Zealand Senior Level 1 coaching qualification.

He completes an experienced roster of coaches who will guide Cambridge’s top three men’s teams this season.

Thomas, who is also the club’s chairman, will assume the coaching role immediately, as the championship squad enters its pre-season preparation.

The team, which finished just outside the top half of last year’s competition, plays its first competition match on Saturday March 28.

Players wishing to join the Lotto NRFL or WaiBOP Championship squads should seek out the coaches at training at John Kerkhof Park on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (6.30pm-8pm).
