Cambridge FC’s end-of-season junior prizegiving will not be able to go ahead this year.
Under alert level 2 to combat COVID-19, our club is unable to cater for the type and scale of function we’ve traditionally held.
“Our region will remain at level 2 at least until mid-September and we didn’t want to find ourselves stalling for time while we waited to see if we could hold it later,” juniors co-ordinator Matt Malligan said.
The junior prizegiving was planned for September 21.
“We think it’s better for everyone for us to make the decision now and to work out how we can find ways for teams to celebrate the end of the season in their own ways,” he said.
How to get player prizes
This Saturday (September 12) marks the last round of junior games and team coaches/managers will be able to pick up prizes, annual certificates and other goodies from the junior shop between 7.30am and 12.30pm.
Teams playing away should call in before they set off or on their return to Cambridge; teams playing at our junior grounds should collect their prizes after their final whistle.
- Team photographs: we’re working on the best way to distribute official team photographs to players. We’ll update our website with this information.
- Senior prizegiving: a decision has not yet been made on this event as some senior teams still have games to play into October.
- Return of kit: coaches/team managers are asked to clean and pack kit ready for return to the club. We’ll announce soon how and when we’re going to check in the returned kit.
Lastly, it’s been a challenging season due to the restrictions forced by the pandemic.
We thank all parents, caregivers, supporters and players for helping us work within the national guidelines to make football possible for our 421 registered junior players this year.
