Championship team looking to add to goal tally as season nears end

With two games left, Cambridge’s WaiBOP Championship team is the club’s only side yet to complete their competition programme.

The side travel to Hamilton Wanderers on Saturday for a 12.30pm match.

The Steve Thomas-coached squad still have plenty to play for, including:

  • The team currently leads Group B in the championship and can’t be caught but maximum points from their last two games will take them to 30 points.
  • The side is looking to extend their unbeaten run to seven games.
  • If the side can remain unbeaten, they’ll have the enviable record of having lost only twice in their 16-game programme (showing how costly six draws have been to their title hopes).
  • Strikers Adam Brady (8) and Aaron Huesser (7) have the chance to add to their goal tallies for the season and in theory, at least, can put some pressure on Peter Buesnel who leads the men’s Golden Boot chart with 13 goals.
