Championship team’s unbeaten run comes to an end at Wanderers

posted in: Men, News

Cambridge’s six-match unbeaten run has ended in the WaiBOP Championship with a 2-1 loss at Hamilton Wanderers.

It was Cambridge’s only third loss in a 15-game season but again it was conceding a late goal that proved costly.

The sides had been evenly matched for the first third of the game and then home team Wanderers took a 38′ lead through Jordan Lamb.

Almost immediately, Cambridge levelled through leading scorer Adam Brady.

The second half was a stalemate until three minutes from time when Lamb scored his second goal, giving Wanderers only their fifth win of the season.

The result still leaves Cambridge at the top of Group B in the WaiBOP Championship with only one fixture remaining – a trip to Tauranga Old Blues next Saturday (October 3) for a 2.45pm kick off.
