Family and friends gather to remember Life Member Rod Larnarch

More than 90 family members and friends shared an emotional farewell to Life Member Rod Larnach at Cambridge FC’s clubrooms.

The memorial service honoured his memory with music, photographs and stories, many of which described the happy days he spent at John Kerkhof Park as a player, coach, committee member and friend to many.

In the 1980s, became a Life Member, one of only 13 people to be awarded that accolade.

Early next season, the club will hold Rod Larnach Day at John Kerkhof Park to give the current generation of players, and spectators, their own chance to pay their respects to him.

Rod Larnach

Rod was a member of Cambridge’s Northern League squad in the 1970s, having progressed through our junior sides which he first joined in 1957.

His father, Jack, was a member of the club’s committee and in the late 1970s, Rod became one of the youngest members of the club’s committee. He played, coached, was the club’s treasurer and was a hands-on volunteer across the club. He became a Life Member in 1988.
