Cambridge FC is mourning the loss of former player, coach and friend to many at the club, Michael Wilbraham.

Known as Mick or Mike, he died suddenly at the weekend in Queenstown, where he had been living since leaving Cambridge.

Wilbraham played and coached at Cambridge in the 1990s, and enjoyed following sports teams from Sheffield Wednesday to the NZ Warriors, as well as being a keen golfer.

Club president Peter Martens said Wilbraham, who was in his early 50s, had been a popular club member and a friend to many. He expressed the club’s condolences to Wilbraham’s family, wife Lisa, son Jamie and daughter Ellie.

Michael Wilbraham’s funeral will be held at the Arrowtown Golf Club at 1.30pm on Sunday December 13, 2020.

Wilbraham, as many will remember him – player-coach of the Cambridge FC third team in 2000.
