Our over-35 teams set to go head-to-head in round one of new competition

Two Cambridge FC senior men’s teams will create history – and together – when the Waikato football season opens on Saturday April 10.

For the first time, WaiBOP Football are staging a nine-team competition for men aged 35+ in which Cambridge had two teams entered.

And the luck of the draw pits the two teams against each other in round one to be played on April 10, with a 12.30pm kick off at John Kerkhof Park.

In other features of the new season’s draw:

  • The team coached by Chris Petropoulos who competed well in last season’s Waikato Division 2 have been moved up a grade and will play in Division 1 this term. They open their season at home to Claudelands Rovers on April 10 (2.45pm).
  • In Waikato Division 4, the Cambridge team known as the D2s travel to Claudelands Rovers in the opening round.
  • Our women’s team begin their Waikato Women’s Division 2 campaign at home to Northern United on Sunday April 11 (11am). Cambridge finished runners-up in the competition last season
