posted in: Men, News, Uncategorized

Cambridge made hard work of their game against bottom-placed Taupo but came away with a 4-2 win that keeps them at the top of the WaiBOP Championship table.

The result provided Cambridge with their sixth win in a row.

Cambridge went ahead after only a minute through striker Adam Brady.

Ryan Ashby doubled the Cambridge lead in the 30th minute.

Taupo pulled a goal back through Dylan Crighton as the first half went into added time and the sides turned around with Cambridge leading 2-1.

Shaun Richardson increased the Cambridge lead to 3-1 after 57 minutes but a defensive mix-up allowed Taupo to reply through Reece Ward on the hour.

Midfielder Haydn Roil scored a well-taken solo goal in the 77th minute to ensure Cambridge took maximum points and retained their hold at the top of the competition table.

Player of the Day was Roil.

Cambridge’s next game is away to second-placed Tauranga Old Blues next Saturday (June 12), with a 2.45pm kick-off.
