Reds to appoint new head coach for next season

The Reds will have a new head coach in 2022 after Paul Richardson’s decision to leave the role in search of his next coaching challenge.

Richardson (pictured) leaves Cambridge after three years in which he successfully consolidated the Reds’ position in the Lotto NRFL second division.

Now the season has been ended early (due to COVID-19 restrictions in Auckland), Richardson has decided it’s time for him to move.

“I would like to thank the club for the honour and opportunity to coach the first team group but I feel the time is right for me to seek new challenges in my coaching journey,” he said.

Richardson, who achieved his C-level coaching licence last year, has helped build a strong first team squad that finished sixth in this year’s second division.

The club thanks Richardson for his work over the past three years and wishes him success for the future.

The club now seeks expressions of interest from coaches wishing to be considered for the role of head coach, reporting to the club’s Technical Director, Ricki Herbert.

Applicants should have:

  • A C-level coaching licence or be in the process of completing such a licence
  • A desire to work with the Technical Director and other club coaches to foster a pathway from youth to first team
  • The skills and drive to continue Cambridge’s year-on-year improvement at NRFL level

How to apply

We ask that you send in your expressions of interest and application in writing, attention to Ricki Herbert at rickih.cfc@gmail.com.
