First Kicks is open to children who are turning 5, 6 or 7 during 2026.
Location : Junior Club Grounds
Season starts : Saturday 2nd May 2026
Timing : Saturday Mornings 10:00am to 11:00am
We want the kids to be as comfortable as possible.
Clothing: No official uniform is required! Just dress your children in comfortable sports clothes.
Gear: For the older group (6-7 year olds), football boots and shin guards are suggested but not mandatory. For the 4-5-year-olds, standard sneakers are perfectly fine!
This year, we are splitting into two distinct groups to help the kids grow at their own pace:
4 & 5 Year Olds: This group will focus on fun football games and drills designed to teach the basics and keep them moving.
6 & 7-Year-Olds: This group will be purely football games. We will have volunteers on the field to help them understand positioning, passing, and when to take that big shot at the goal!
Teams will be put together on the day, each Saturday
To make these sessions a success—especially the 6 & 7-year-old games—we need parent volunteers.
We are looking for at least one volunteer per team to help monitor the games and guide the kids. You don’t need to be a pro coach; you just need to be encouraging and help them figure out which way to run! If you’re able to help out, please let me know or come see me on the first morning.
We can’t wait to get started and see all that energy on the field on May 2nd. See you there!
Thanks

This age is all about building confidance & having fun - we dont expect them to be experts! They need to learn its ok to miss, its ok to fall down, its ok to bump into another player when you both go for the ball at the same time - and how to pick each other back up and look after each other.
If your child is a bit overwhelmed - not a problem! Just remove them off to the side for a bit, maybe a trip to the loo or have a drink of water to distract and you can always grab a spare ball & do some passes back & forth just you & them.
They are learning to listen to the game leader/coach and follow their instructions & doing all that while trying to mater a new skill of kicking a ball where they want it to go! This is where their love of sport can either be ignighted or squashed so let them go at their own pace and heap on the praise - and watch their confidance sore!
Thanks
