CAMBRIDGE GIRLS PROGRAMME

***This page will continue to be updated as the 2026 Girls Programme is finalised***

This section contains information for girls wanting to play socially OR for girls interested in finding out more about our development pathway.

OUR VISION

Cambridge Football are committed to growing and supporting girls' football at all levels. Whether your child is new to the game or looking to develop their skills further, we offer a welcoming and structured environment for players aged 6 to 16.

Our focus is on creating a fun, inclusive, and competitive footballing experience that nurtures a lifelong love of the game.   We want to provide an environment where our girls can experiment, learn and achieve in a positive, supportive way and to help players reach their full potential.

    PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

Whether your child is new to football or looking to take their skills to the next level, we offer teams and pathways for girls aged 6 to 16.

We have dedicated girls-only teams in the following grades:

    • 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Grade
    • U14 (covers 13th-14th Grade)
    • U16 (NEW for the 2025 season)

We are actively working towards gaining Talent Development Programme (TDP) accreditation for our female programmes and hope to achieve this in the near future.

    TEAM PLACEMENT

    • Our club follows New Zealand Football's Junior Framework when forming teams for children 12 and under.
    • We do not grade junior teams but aim to create balanced groups to ensure a positive experience and growth opportunities for all players.
    • To keep games fair and enjoyable, we try to avoid placing all the strongest players in one team.
    • At the same time, we aim to ensure new or less confident players are not grouped with those who have significantly more experience.
    • Our main goal is to create a fun, supportive environment where every child can enjoy football and develop their skills at their own pace.
    • Whenever possible, we consider friendships when forming teams to help children feel comfortable and engaged.
    • The registration process allows for a request to play with friends.  Please note, while we do our best, this is not always possible.

For more ambitious players we do hold talent ID sessions (see key dates below).  This helps coaches group girls into appropriate development teams and to provide opportunites for player growth.

    DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME DETAILS

For girls wanting to take their football to the next level we offer U12 and U14 development teams.  Girls will participate in a talent ID session before being placed into teams.  The programme includes:

    • Programming provided by RH3 Academy coaches
    • Coaching, game day and tournament attendance by RH3 Academy coaches
    • Strength and conditioning programme including Sports Science testing across all age groups
    • Seperate goal keeping sessions for squad goal keepers.

    UNIFORM

Unfortunately it has become increasingly difficult to secure the grants and funding that have enabled the club to supply playing shirts to all 650+ junior players.  Each year we receive a number of damaged or stained shirts back and some are simply not returned.  With the growing player base, it has become unstainable for the club to continue to supply playing shirts.

The club has a swap-a-boot programme and second-hand boots available at the club for $5 during the season.  Further information will be shared on this once details have been confirmed.

This year all players (7 years +) will need:

    • Club playing shirt
    • Red shorts
    • Red socks
    • Football boots
    • Shin guards

All items can be purchased from our online shop.

Please note: Players must purchase their own playing shirt this year, no shirts will be handed out in team bags.

If you have existing shorts and socks from previous seasons, they can be worn this year, only the new playing shirt is complusory.
